I have VERY delicate ears, and those high notes on the flute....oh my dear Soul....</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:'times new roman';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">4) You just might find yours truly in attendance. Yes, your very own Mz Paws!! Yours truly would not miss the first concert that my human has given in hundreds of years because of a nerve injury to her face. She has a Master's in Flute Performance (I saw her diploma once -- she does not know this) and has been very sad until lately. She talks about everything from string theory (as in math/physics/Big Fang) (or first, <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/06/mz-paws-law-1-part-b-elucidation.html">click here</a> to see yours truly having fun with her OWN string), to how crime profilers work, the publishing world, meowsical purrformances and oh, so much more. Plus she reads from her book. C.E. Lawrence is, of course, the author of <b><a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/07/mz-paws-silent-screams-winner.html">Silent Screams</a></b>, a thriller that will really raise your fur. <a href="http://www.blogtalkradio.com/comedy-concepts/2010/02/09/silent-screams-a-novel-idea">Click here to get your neurons firing!</a></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 204); font-size:x-large;"><b><br /></b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" color: rgb(102, 0, 204); font-size:x-large;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#000000;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">The other link is to an article about the Tea Party. Now, I enjoy bones in china and can raise my little claw as well as the next socio-cat, but I simply will not comment on this other kind of tea party except to say that you MUST watch the UTube version of an hysterical parody of these so-called Teapartiers by <a href="http://www.emmasrevolution.com/">"emma's revolution."</a> (That's the name of the group.) Imho, they're highly overrated. If you can tell me what can be accomplished on a vacation that cannot be accomplished by sitting quietly and contemplating the true Meaning of Life, then please do so. (I'm told there are places to comment at the end of every one of my messages to you, my adoring -- and adored -- followers.) Contemplating the Meaning of Life may seem rather a large task, or one better left to those whose inclination is to sequester themselves forever behind the walls of a monastery or nunnery -- but actually it is quite simple. Just sit and breathe and see how wonderful it is that we can do this. <a href="http://shyalparinpoche.org/">Click here to learn more</a>. First, only 4 -- <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF0000;">FOUR</span> -- of you have voted whether or not I should become vegetarian. That is, of course, about average for this country, in which about 50% of humans turn out at the polls. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF0000;">But I expected better from my fans. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;">VOTE</span>. IT'S YOUR RIGHT!!!</span> And frankly, I'm tired of dithering. Should I have <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/06/id-like-bit-more-oil-with-my-shrimp.html">eaten my shrimp last night</a>, or not?</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">Secondly, (I love saying that!) I believe that the poor phish you see swimming in a cage on top of my page need to be set free. The poor things are continually bumping up against their prison walls, trying desperately to find their way to bigger things -- like the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF0000;">bathtub</span> where I live. Or, perhaps they would prefer one of the three fake <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#FF0000;">ponds</span>. (I wouldn't suggest that, however; too many snapping turtles.) We may be going to the ocean this week -- perhaps they would enjoy a saltwater environment. But no, they might end up in the Gulf and then it would be an oily environment. While I was <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/07/where-is-mz-paws.html">Behind the White Door</a> (more on that later) I found a most suitable mirror in which to take a good look at myself. What I found was -- ME. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">I have to admit, my dear friends, that during my first days <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/07/where-is-mz-paws.html">Behind the White Door</a>, (please click on "Behind the White Door" if you have not been following my story), I felt the <b><a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/07/behind-white-door-mz-paws-undergoes.html">hounded</a></b> by doubt and depression. (No doubt, that is where the horrible rumor started that I had -- I can barely write this -- <b><a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/07/behind-white-door-mz-paws-undergoes.html">changed species</a>.)</b></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><b><br /></b></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">I will say, however, that depression can make one FEEL as though one has undergone some kind of terrible transformation. (Speaking of transformation, I will not even comment on the rumor that I had become <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/07/behind-white-door-mz-paws-undergoes.html">A Canine</a>. To do so would simply FEED the FRENZY of gossip and rumor, both of which I find contemptible.)</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">But I digress. To continue: when I looked in the mirror, I saw the same ME. It was most confusing. This afternoon, the Queen of Etiquette, as she is sometimes affectionately called by those who follow her blog, was seen dashing up the stairs pictured here to escape a <b>pack of paparazzi</b> who had discovered her soaking up rays on a ledge at her home. (At the time of this report, we do not know the location of these stairs.) Earlier in the day, Mz Paws told a reporter that she hoped everyone would have a safe and happy Fourth of July. One fan who witnessed the swarming of Mz Paws by the paparazzi tearfully told this writer, "We can only hope that Mz Paws is safe and sound up there. It's just terrible what they'll do to get a picture of her." There have been rumors that Mz Paws has been distressed by the poll that appeared on her blog, asking whether or not she should become vegetarian. Some fans dismissed this idea as "hogwash." As one admirer put it, "Mz Paws has made it clear in her bio that she is a 'ham' but not a pig." </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" ;font-family:arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">We will keep you "posted" on the whereabouts Mz Paws.</span></span></div>Mz Pawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14656003313127512534noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1192101737282401834.post-32684745816169067632010-07-01T16:43:00.028-04:002010-07-01T17:47:31.456-04:00Mz Paws' Law #2: Elucidation<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9sqwnGgrgNTW-Fd3MbaK6TZOBxcd-TossACju7dr3JsNBmgbaexjNJuARwjVFqwv1-N8s3TBu1g05oCwNV9JsAJdiM4rfgL78QqtfD8ZAbAk-6XnUkWrcbQrL0fXy7TUtqdO2K0LeNeH/s1600/Dakini+on+the+prowl.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 156px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9sqwnGgrgNTW-Fd3MbaK6TZOBxcd-TossACju7dr3JsNBmgbaexjNJuARwjVFqwv1-N8s3TBu1g05oCwNV9JsAJdiM4rfgL78QqtfD8ZAbAk-6XnUkWrcbQrL0fXy7TUtqdO2K0LeNeH/s320/Dakini+on+the+prowl.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5489046411617700274" /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "></span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;"><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju9sqwnGgrgNTW-Fd3MbaK6TZOBxcd-TossACju7dr3JsNBmgbaexjNJuARwjVFqwv1-N8s3TBu1g05oCwNV9JsAJdiM4rfgL78QqtfD8ZAbAk-6XnUkWrcbQrL0fXy7TUtqdO2K0LeNeH/s1600/Dakini+on+the+prowl.jpg"></a></span></span></span></b></span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><br /></span></span></b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><br /></span></span></b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><br /></span></span></b></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; "><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;">Mz Paws' <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/06/mz-paws-9-laws-for-good-living.html">Law #2</a>:</span><br /></span></span></b></span><div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:x-large;">Sleep. I chased him -- or her -- or it, if you prefer -- for hours at the window, and, I have to admit, I made some really, really good holes in the screen, which my human hasn't yet discovered and which was really, really fun to do, if you've never poked a hole in a screen, it makes a really neat little ripping noise...but I digress.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">K. Then, just when I had decided I'd had enough and was ready to practice my <a href="http://mzpaws.blogspot.com/2010/06/mz-paws-9-laws-for-good-living.html">Law #2</a>, the fly purposefully set himself down within a HAIR of my right front paw. Take mealtime. In my litter, mealtimes were always a free-for-all. Mom would lie down, exposing her teats, which were ripe for the sucking, and we would immediately jump her helter-skelter, since there were 10 of us and only 8 nipples. There was, I do have to admit, a teensy bit of shoving and pushing that went on. Even so, my mother insisted we try to practice good manners. For example: </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color:#6600CC;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">"Mz Paws, thank you so much for letting me have a little nibble on Mom's nipple." "You're very welcome, Tom. Don't mention it." </span></b></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"> </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">Now, Tom and I were not all that close as siblings. Even as a wee one, he was a bit of a ladies' man, if you get my meaning. But at least by answering his "thank you" with a "you're welcome" I was acknowledging his existence. As in Thank YOU. YOU are welcome. Remember the philosopher Martin Buber? How our language reveals whether we are viewing each other as "I, Thou" or "I, It?" </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">Imho, replying "No problem" to a purrfectly polite "Thank you" is a diss. When a cat replies "no problem" to me, I feel I have become just another "It" -- another object to which <i>something</i> must be said. Heaven forbid that my BEING, my "YOU-ness" should be acknowledged with a "You're welcome."</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">Now, there will be those of you who will disagree with me. In fact, the <a href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=you're+welcome">Urban Dictionary </a> defines "No Problem" as a "casual 'you're welcome'." As in "it wasn't a hassle." </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family:arial;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:medium;">K.
